Barbara A. Horvath, 80, passed away at 8:20am Monday, April 17, 2017 in her sons residence. Barbara was born on September 15, 1936 in South Bend to John and Bernice (Dygulski) Nitka. She was the owner of Kalico Kitchen and was employed at Sols Hardware Store. Barb was a member of St. Monica Parish, its Altar & Rosary Society and was a cooking teacher as well as a track coach. On October 22, 1955 in South Bend she married Richard W. "Botchie" Horvath. He died on October 22, 2003. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Amber Horvath. Surviving are 3 daughters Lee Ann (Rick) Bubp of Plymouth, Karen Horvath and Nancy (Gene) Fletcher both of South Bend, a son Mark (Debby) Horvath of Lakeville, 9 grandchildren Jason (Sara) Hill, Sarah (Raphael) Hendrix, Jessica Bubp, Justin (Hillary) Horvath, Chad (Erica) Horvath, Matthew Horvath, Tyler (Christy) Fletcher, Trevor Fletcher and Trenton Fletcher, 11 great-grandchildren and a brother Gerald (Maureen) Nitka of South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Friday, April 21, 2017 in St. Monica Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2-8 Thursday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue where a rosary will be recited at 4:00pm. Visitation will also take place on Friday from 9:00am to 9:45am in St. Monica Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Monica Church or The Center for Hospice.
