Elsie M. Swartz, 92, passed away at 12:20am Sunday, October 16, 2016 in Signature Healthcare of South Bend. Elsie was born on May 19, 1924 in South Bend to Joseph and Theresa (Klebusits) Horvath. She was employed by St. Joseph Hospital, was a Rosie the Riveter during World War II, loved playing poker and bingo and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame Football fan. Surviving are a son Ronald "Rick" (Judy) Swartz of Granger, a daughter Billie Lee Dawson of Westland, MI, 3 grandchildren Cory (Stephanie) Swartz, Rachal (Steven) Lovisa and Tracy Dawson, and 4 great-grandchildren Anthony, Nathan, Gabriella, and Montana. Elsie was preceded in death by a grandson Robert and brother Joseph E. Horvath. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Harbor Lights Hospice for their care for Elsie. Private services will take place with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made to Harbor Lights Hospice.
