Judith A. (Basker) Hatfield

May 6, 1935 ~ February 11, 2018 (age 82)

Judith A. (Basker) Hatfield, 82, passed away on Sunday February 11th, 2018. Judith was born on May 6th, 1935 in Mishawaka to Edward and Patricia (Parmley) Basker. Her father was an accomplished artist, which enabled her to travel to many places. As an only child, she read many books, which is a testament to how much she knew. She was very smart. Her intelligence showed throughout her life, especially when she bought a computer for her own business, set it up herself, and taught herself how to use it. Judith and Robert were the owners of Weaver Heating and Air Conditioning from 1980 to 2001. After retirement, Judith enjoyed miniature doll houses, and built her own Victorian doll house. She enjoyed puzzles that she later taped together, and had a room of her own called “The Puzzle Room.” She was an avid sports fan, especially Notre Dame, which she had tons of Notre Dame memorabilia around the house. She enjoyed most of all being a homemaker and taking care of her six children. She was always doing arts and crafts her whole life. She has many grandchildren who she cherished dearly. She was the most unselfish person, always putting others before herself. Her Catholic faith was the most important thing in her life, teaching her kids the importance of keeping the faith. She remained a devout Catholic until her last day, which was spent surrounded by all her children.

On August 4th, 1956, she married Robert E. Hatfield. He died on December 19th, 2005. Judith was also preceded in death by two sons, Gregory Hatfield and Donald Hatfield, as well as son-in-law Michael Husen.

Surviving are two daughters, Susan Husen of West Olive, Michigan, and Patricia Lubelski of South Bend, two sons, John Hatfield and James (Jennifer) Hatfield of South Bend, and daughter-in-law Jenny (Gregory) Hatfield.

Judith has 12 grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Carter, Christine, Ashley, Terri, Marissa, Andrew, Natalie, Joshua, Kendall, and Koleton.
