SOUTH BEND Rosemary Mochel passed away at 12:30pm Monday, May 15, 2017, on her 85th birthday, in her home after an extended illness. Rosemary was born on May 15, 1932 to the late Paul and Mary (Nemeth) Szabo in South Bend. Rosemary graduated from Washington High School in 1950. She got her first job at St. Joseph Bank and Trust Company. From there she worked at Manpower, then at Farm Credit Services at the South Bend Field Office. She retired from there after 27 years of service. Mrs. Mochel was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and active in the Altar-Rosary, the Altar & Rosary Society of St. Jude Church, the Legion of Mary, The Blue Army, The Area Conference of Catholic Women and St. Mary of the Assumption and Our Lady of Hungary Church, Canasta Club, St. Marys Lunch Club and the Golden Girls. Rosemary is survived by her son Dean (Barbara) Mochel, grandson Chad (Corinne) Freel and great-grandchildren Brianna, Hannah, Bentley, Xavier and Alex, as well as her dogs Scout and Ranger. A grandson, Jason Alan preceded her in death. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Friday, May 19, 2017 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 3-8 Thursday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue where a rosary will be recited at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pet Refuge, 2300 W. 6th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544 or the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
