Biljana Djelevich Obituary

Mrs. Biljana Djelevich was born on April 5, 1924 in Belgrade, Serbia, former Yugoslavia, to her father Dr. med. Milivoje Petrovic and her mother Slavka Petrovic, DDS. She graduated from the University of Belgrade with BA degree in English Language and Literature in 1954. Mrs. Djelevich immigrated to United States in 1959 and met her husband Jaksa Djelevich who was the Yugoslav Royal Army Officer before the Second World War and the First Adjutant to general Dragoljub-Draza Mihailovic in 1941-1942. They were married on August 29, 1960 in Windsor,Canada, and in due time she became the US citizen. They resided in Detroit, Michigan and its suburbia and were members of the St. Lasarus-Ravanica Serbian Orthodox Church in Detroit for 28 years and, for a few years, were members of the Serbian Orthodox Church Gracanica in Windsor, Canada. In 1964 Mrs. Djelevich received her Master Degree in Library Science from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and has worked in the Detroit Public Library and General Motors Corporation Research Laboratories Library and Design Staff Library until her retirement in August 1987. Mrs. Djelevich was preceded in death by her parents in Belgrade, her husband Jaksa in 1988, her brother-in-law Vojislav-Voja Djelevich, sister-in-law Dusanka Djelevich and nephew Aleksandar-Sasa Djelevich, all in Detroit, Michigan. She is survived by many relatives in Belgrade. Since 1993, Mrs. Djelevich was living in the Serbian Orthodox Monastery where the funeral services were held at 4:00pm Saturday, June 24th, with interment following in the Monasterys cemetery next to her beloved husband Jaksa.
