Bill "Doc" D. Caudill

January 29, 1934 ~ August 19, 2018 (age 84)

SOUTH BEND – Bill D. “Doc” Caudill, 84, passed away peacefully at 12:35am Sunday, August 19, 2018 in Hospice House surrounded by his family.

 

Bill was born on January 29, 1934 in Silver Lake, IN to Homer and Golda (Stone) Caudill.  He was employed with Associates Investment Company, M.O. Wolfe & Company, Bob Rans Wholesale and Michiana Delivery Service.  Doc proudly served in the United States Army.  He was a long time member of the DFV German Club where he served several years as treasurer.  He enjoyed bowling, golfing, putting together puzzles, wintering in Leesburg, FL and traveling.   Doc was an avid fan of Notre Dame sports and the Chicago Cubs.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

 

On August 29, 1959 he married Ilarae Dorhauer who survives along with three daughters Rosie (John) Beard of Anderson, IN, Chris Caudill of South Bend and Deb (Jim) Ewing of Carmel, IN, five grandchildren Tyler (Leah) Beard, Evan (Mercedes) Beard, Conner Ewing, Cameron Ewing and Katie Ewing, three great-grandchildren Kynzlee, Brandy & Braden Beard, a brother Michael (Bonnie) Caudill of Fort Wayne, a sister Linda Pletcher of Yucaipa, CA, three sisters-in-law Donalee Carlson, Merna Caudill, and Rita Dorhauer, as well as many nieces and nephews. 

 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Robert Caudill and Delbert (Rhoda) Caudill and two brothers-in-law Lynn Pletcher and Ted W. Carlson, Jr.

 

We would like to extend our appreciation to the staff at Hospice House for caring for Bill and our family during this time.

 

Funeral services will be at 11:00am Friday, August 24, 2018 in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue.  Cremation will follow with burial in Southlawn Cemetery at a later date.  Friends may gather from 2-4 and 5-8 Thursday in the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice Care.  To leave an online condolence visit our website www.zahoran.com.
