Bonnie L. (Kirby) Desits

Bonnie Desits, 93, passed away at 11:54pm Wednesday, July 18, 2018.Bonnie was born on March 26, 1925 in Macon County, TN to Roman and Valerie (Carver) Kirby. She retired from South Bend Elks where she was the banquet manager and also worked at the Knights of Columbus hall. Bonnie was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Basilica and a member of the Ladies of the Elks Auxiliary, Knights of Columbus Wives and St. Ann Society. On December 26, 1945 she married John Desits. He preceded her in death along with a daughter Janet Desits, a sister Willie VanHooser and a brother Thurman Kirby.Surviving are a daughter Beverly (Frank) Bogunia of South Bend, 2 sons Robert Desits of Mishawaka and Jeffrey (Mary) Desits of St. Louis, MO, 8 grandchildren Christine (Todd) Leinenbach, Kimberly Chadwick, Gary (Lindsey) Bogunia, Steve (Diane) Bogunia, Tracy (Jeff) Carroll, Tyler Desits, Gabrielle Desits, and Elizabeth Desits, 14 great-grandchildren Kaylie, Travis, Jake, Abigail, Addison, Cole, Caitlyn, Courtney, Cara, Justin, Austin, Parker, Nolan, and Wyatt, 3 great-great-grandchildren, a sister Dorothy Stafford and a brother Louie Kirby. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Saturday, July 21, 2018 in St. Therese, Little Flower Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may gather from 4-7 Friday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue where a rosary will be recited at 4:30pm. Viewing will also take place from 9:00am until services Saturday in the church.
