John J. Nemeth

John J. Nemeth, 79, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 in Memorial Hospital.John was born on May 1, 1938 in South Bend to Victor and Rose (Desich) Nemeth. He was employed at Bills Body Shop, aka "Bills Coffee Shop", where he worked for his long time friend Bill Strantz. John was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Hungary Church, served in the United States Air Force, and enjoying especially his time in Alaska, a member of the Studebaker Drivers Club and a member of a local postcard club. Hewas a Boy Scout Leader of Troop #366, loved St. Joseph County history, bluegrass and classic country music, nature and his family and many friends. He was the best big brother and uncle ever. John had a huge interest and vast knowledge in many areas. Surviving are a sister Rosemary (Steve) Andert of South Bend, brother Victor (Celine) Nemeth of Vermillion, OH, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews Stephen J. (Brenda, Jerry, John) Andert, Janice Andert (Liz, Jeff, Mike Smith), Pam (Tasos) Anastasiou, Chris Andert, Edward (Erica, Evan, Haley) Andert and Rosanne Andert.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00pm Friday, March 23, 2018 in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial with military services will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends may gather from 4-8 Thursday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue, where a rosary will be recited at 4:30pm.
