Mary E. (Varga) Paszkiet

Mary E. Paszkiet, 97, passed away on August 2, 2018 in Kokomo, Indiana at the home of her daughter. Mary Ethel Varga was born on June 14, 1921 in South Bend, Indiana, the eighth of nine children of Gizella and Karl Varga. Mary attended Ardmore Grade School and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for several local businesses.On November 23, 1950 Mary married the love of her life, Louis J. Paszkiet; Louis died in 1981. They had one daughter, Christine.Mary was an avid gardener and an excellent seamstress. She happily shared her talents, sewing special occasion clothing for many members of her extended family, and sharing plants with fellow gardeners. After the death of her husband, Mary learned to paint with watercolors. Mary most enjoyed painting the flowers that grew in her garden.In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Karl, Frank, Steven and Eugene (Robert); sisters Theresa, Gizella, Anna and Elsie; and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter, Christine, and by her loving and loyal dog, Chelsea.Mary received excellent care from a number of caregivers during her final years. The family would like to thank Kathy, Linda, Marlene, Pamela, Rana, Susanna, Terri and Venetia for their kindness.Cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Saturday, August 11, 2018 in Holy Family Church. Family and friends may gather from 10am until services in the church.From childhood to her final days, Marys life was enriched by special companion animals.
