SOUTH BEND Robert J. Backus, 62, passed away at 10:16am Saturday, September 23, 2017 in Hospice House. Robert was born on September 13, 1955 in Bainbridge, MD to James Backus and Wanetta Eisenhart. He was preceded in death by his father James Backus, a daughter Bobbie Jo Backus, grandson Jared Sutton, three sisters Kathy Thorpe, Paula Eisenhart, and Vickie Eisenhart and two brothers Jimmy Backus and Gene Eisenhart. Surviving are three sons Tyson Backus, Jason Backus and Robert Backus, Jr., five grandchildren Olivia Sutton, Andrew Lawrence, Anthony Lawrence, Destin Backus and Ivan Backus, and three sisters Sandy Fisher, Tammy Barker, and Robbie Detert. A Celebration of Life will take place Monday, October 2, 2017 in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue from 5 7pm.
