Roger Baele

I was sorry to see the passing of Roger .I was fortunate to be a photographer at the tribune for ten years, and knew him well. He was a good photographer and always sent us a note if he saw a picture he thought made the newspaper look good. he was always interested in the South Bend community, and will be missed,and remembered by all. Roger was always the ultimate professional at the Tribune -- someone to admire and emulate. With a steady hand, he kept some really good (and feisty) photographers on the same page and right course. I enjoyed seeing him from time to time at St. Paul's in recent years. He was an unsung hero with his quiet but effective leadership in many ventures. A fine example of the Greatest Generation.

Our prayers and thoughts go out to you during this time. Roger was a valuable member of the Tribune family and will long be remembered in our hearts and through his many published photos.
