Sandra M. Hornyak, age 72, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on December 30, 2017, in BellTower Nursing Home. She was born on September 13, 1945, to Anton and Lorraine (Luczkowski) Hornyak. She graduated from Riley High School in South Bend. Sandy enlisted and served honorably in the United States Navy for 20 years. After her discharge from the Navy, she was employed as a Cook at a hospital in South Bend, a job she loved to do because she loved to cook. She is survived by her sister, Linda (Paul) Schack, who resides in Tennessee, and niece, Corey Lynn Gatlin of Mishawaka, nephew, Anthony W. Graves of New York. She was a Great Aunt to Matthew and Kaitlyn Gatlin of Mishawaka. Other survivors include Aunts Julie Paksi of Vandalia, MI and Frances Hojnacki of South Bend and Uncle John Paksi of South Bend. Sandy will always be remembered for her sense of humor and her private investigative skills. She will be greatly missed. There will be no services. Cremation has taken place.
