Stephen J Schock, 52, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019 in his residence.Steve was born on March 27, 1967 to Larry and Janice A. (Riley) Schock in South Bend. On October 2, 1993, at the former St. Stephens Catholic Church, he married the love of his life Sandra Garza who survives along with a daughter Corina (Martel) Valdez, two sons Robert (Ashley) Valdez III and Julian D Schock and three grandchildren Israel, Isaac, Anna, and another on the way. Also left to cherish his memory are Aunt Pam Waidner, Uncle Ritchie & Aunt Noreen Schock, Aunt Evie & Uncle Bud Higginbothom & many extended family and friends.Steve was raised into the business of antiquing at a young age, taking upon the family business. His love for antiques and oddities followed him all throughout life. He was a jack of all trades and tried to fix just about anything or at least giving it his best. At a young age, Steve found another love, a love for baseball as early as eight-years old. Steve started baseball at South Side Little League, He played through his teen years, and eventually coached South Side Little League baseball with his son for ten years winning many awards.In his spare time, Steve enjoyed fishing regularly, shooting pool winning 2006 Marronis Pool League Championship & watching Chicago Cubs win the World Series was his dream come true. Recently, Steve took up a hobby in wood carving, following in his family footsteps.Friends and family remember him as a man of bright energy, a loud presence, the life of the party and a man who welcomed anyone with open arms.He was preceded in death by his parents, his father & mother-in-law, his grandparents & brothers Jeffery and Michael along with his nephew Jordan SchockFamily and friends may gather from 5-8 Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue where a rosary will be recited at 5:15pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Wednesday in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will take place in Mount Pleasant Cemetery at a later date.Memorial contributions may be made to ABC Pet Refuge, Catholic Charities or any charity of your choice. GO CUBS!!!
