Viola T. (Tamandli) Herczeg

Viola T. Herczeg, 90, passed away at 8:35pm Sunday, June 18, 2017 in Memorial Hospital. Viola was born on February 1, 1927 in South Bend to John and Vera (Arch) Tamandli. She was employed by Allied Building Credits and then was a domestic engineer. Vi was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church, its St. Ann Society, a room mother and a Blue Bird Leader. She loved animals, especially her dogs and going shopping. On May 7, 1949 in South Bend she married Joseph J. Herczeg, Jr. He died on May 2, 2011. Surviving are a daughter Linda (Randy) Murowski of Lakeville, a son John (Cari) Herczeg of South Bend two grandchildren Ashley (Phillip) DeSouza and John Herczeg, and two great-grandchildren Nikolas and Mason DeSouza. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Friday, June 23, 2017 in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Cremation will follow, with burial of her cremated remains in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may gather from 4-8 Thursday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue where a rosary will be recited at 4:30pm.
