Anthony Magyar, 86, passed away at 12:02am Monday, January 8, 2024 in the Raclin House, Center for Hospice.
Anthony was born on January 17, 1937 in Szombathely, Hungary to Thomas and Julianna (Poropatich) Magyar. They preceded him in death along with a son Anthony Magyar, and twin sister Agnes Badar.
On September 21, 1963 in South Bend he married the former Donna Boskovic who survives along with two sons Bob (Alta) Magyar and Jeff (Jane) Magyar, two grandchildren Anthony Magyar and Holly Magyar, two sisters Anna Hedl and Frida Botelho, a brother Steve (Connie) Magyar and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Tony retired from AM General and had also worked as a butcher for Mezzei’s and Mersit’s grocery stores. He was a member or Our Lady of Hungary Church, the former St. Anthony Society, William Penn Club and DFV German Club. He enjoyed soccer, bowling and gardening, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Saturday, January 13, 2024, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Viewing will take place from 3-7 Friday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue where a rosary will be recited at 5:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice Care.
