Betty M. (Takacs) Zeiger

Betty M. Zeiger, 71, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025 in her residence, surrounded by her family.

Betty was born on December 3, 1953 in South Bend to Julius and Hermina (Freitag) Takacs.  They preceded her in death along with her former husband August “Gus” Zeiger, her sister Charlotte Karafa, brother-in-law Paul Deguch and her cat Lily Bell.

Surviving are a daughter Amy Zeiger, a son Aaron (Diana) Zeiger, 5 grandchildren Taylor Zeiger, Tristan Zeiger, Arielle Mattoon, Zachary Mattoon, and Logan Mattoon, a sister Annette Deguch, a brother James (Kathy) Takacs, a brother-in-law Andrew Karafa Sr., nieces and nephews David (Hannah) Deguch, Theo Deguch, Mackenzie (Quentin) Cooling, Andrew (Darla) Karafa Jr., Frank (Andrea) Karafa, Jackie (Brandon) Duthler and Jonathon (Monica) Takacs, and her cat Chloie

Betty was employed by Fatima Retreat Center for over 30 years.  She enjoyed taking walks around the lakes at Notre Dame, fitness, nutrition, but most of all, loved spending time with her family.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 5-8pm in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue, a rosary will be recited at 5:00pm  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Thursday in St. Jude Catholic Church.  Cremation will follow.  Memorial contributions may be made to Pet Refuge
