Donald Louis Denhardt was born August 24, 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Margaret Peltier and Edward Lewis Denhardt, both now deceased. Don passed away September 23, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. He is survived by his two sons, Matthew and Thomas and their children, his sister Marilyn Smith, stepsister Linda Vernier, and stepbrother Ron Vernier.
He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Don was a master mechanic who could fix anything. He considered himself not a “jack” of all trades, but a “master”. He loved boating and playing with computers. He was also an inventor. He developed a “pulser” to rejuvenate old batteries, which he custom-made to order. Don held many jobs, including working with refrigeration, fixing boats, small engine repair, but most notably working for Tank Automotive Command in Warren, Michigan. There, he started as a technical writer, then editor, and eventually he ran the computer department.
Don was a sincere Christian and a gentle soul. He will be missed. A memorial may be held at a later date.
