Douglas S. Merrill

Douglas S. Merrill, 67, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025 in Mishawaka.

Douglas was born on November 15, 1957 in South Bend to Douglas and Maryanne (Borkowski) Merrill.   Doug was raised by his grandparents Clem and Ella Borkowski.

He attended Jackson High School and was a successful thoroughbred horse owner and trainer, proudly racing under his red and black DSM stable colors.  Doug lived most of his life in Florida.

Surviving are his seven children Andrew Merrill and Amanda Merrill of Mishawaka, Bryce, Lane, Cole, Ella Merrill of Florida and Anna Merrill of Indiana, and his sister Bonnie of South Florida and 8 grandchildren.  He is also survived by his Aunt Joyce Ullery, with whom he resided, and affectionately called his “Joycie”.

Cremation has taken place, no services are scheduled at this time.
