Edward J. Bishop Sr.

Edward J. “Monk” Bishop Sr., 95, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025 in Southfield Village surrounded by his family.

Edward was born on October 31, 1929 in South Bend to Arthur and Lucill (Robinson) Bishop.  On May 24, 1952 he married the former Marcia J. Was.  She died on January 5, 2018.  Ed was also preceded in death by a son John Bishop, a sister Mary Ellen McCombs and 4 brothers Hiram Bishop, George Bishop, Arthur Bishop, and Russell Bishop.

Surviving are 2 daughters Theresa (Bryan) Wynen and Regina “Ginny” (Rick) Conrad Sr., 7 sons Wayne (Cathy) Bishop, Rick (Nancy) Bishop, Ken (Pam) Bishop, Brian (Lisa) Bishop, Tom (Mari) Bishop, Bob Bishop and Ed (Patti) Bishop Jr, a daughter-in-law Debbie Bishop, 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Ed worked as a driver for Transpo and the University of Notre Dame Athletic Dept.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Knights of Columbus.  Ed enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling and going to the casino.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 5-7 pm in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Friday in St. Jude Catholic Church.  Cremation will follow.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Foundation in memory of his wife Marcia.   Online condolences may be made at www.zahoran.com.
