Francis John (Frank) Hagye passed away peacefully on April 08, 2021 at his residence. Born November 14, 1950 in South Bend, Indiana and lived in South Carolina for many years. Recently he lived in Rincon, Ga where he passed away.
Francis attended Our Lady of Hungary School and Marian High School. He earned a degree in Geology from St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Indiana and a masters from University of Illinois as an environmental engineer. He worked in Saudi Arabia, Venezuela and the United States. Frank worked as an environmental engineer for approximately 10 years at Ground Engineering Solutions in Greenville, SC. He was well regarded and worked on major projects contributing to the growth and development of downtown Greenville and throughout the south-eastern US. In South Carolina he worked in the MARTA project and the Bad Creek hydroelectric plant, which was a 5 year project. He enjoyed acting in local theatre, playing many roles. Music was also a favorite pastime, singing in choirs and several barbershop music groups.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen Hagye, sister Marilyn Kinder and her husband, Ray Kinder and brother-in-law Fred Jamroz. Surviving is his companion, Claudia McCreesh; daughter Sarah Schoeneberg (Daniel) and grandchildren Grace and Benjamin Schoeneberg; sisters Rosemarie Jamroz; Eileen Sherk (Tom); brother Richard Hagye (Julie). Nieces and nephews are Christopher Jamroz; Anne Marie Garrett (David); Patricia O’Strander (Dave); Tom Jamroz (Alexandra); Richard Hagye Jr. (Joanne); Mike Hagye; Terri Kinder; Sherri Taveras (Bryan); Jonathan Sherk (Forest Ann); Elizabeth Luber (Chris) and great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Memorial service at Zahoran Funeral Home, South Bend on Saturday, May 29. Family will greet at 10am. Service at 11 am with Fr. Kevin Bauman officiating. Private burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Our Lady of Hungary School or charity of your choice.
