Harold E. Kirby

Harold E.”Gene” Kirby, 85, passed away Friday, May 29, 2026 in his residence, surrounded by his family.

Harold was born on September 26, 1940 in Laketon, IN to John and Dorothy (Johnson) Kirby.  He was a truck driver as well as a mechanic / service manager.  Harold was an avid bird watcher, who loved cooking, fishing, gardening, and canning.  He also enjoyed NASCAR and formerly raced cars.

On June 20, 1998 in Mishawaka he married Marianne Seach.  She died on July 26, 2023.

Harold was also preceded in death by a son Richard “Ricky” Seach Jr. a daughter Jean Ann Kirby, a grandson Richard S. Seach III, a brother John J. Kirby and a sister Joyce Girton.

Surviving are four daughters Deborah (Terry) Pogotis and Brenda (Ken) Talboom, Kathy (Mark) Hisey, and Kim Morton,  two sons Harold Kirby Jr. and Ryan (Amber) Kirby,  13 grandchildren Cassandra Seach, Sean Armour, Dallas Stefan, Michelle (Nicholas) Standfield, Brittany (Chase) Gervais, Marenda (Michael) O’Hara, Vendetta Patterson, and Patric Patterson, Lauren Reining, Matthew Hisey, Abigayle (Brandon) Parsons, Mackenzie (Christian) Acosta and Riley Kirby, 14 great-grandchildren Kassandra, Kameron, Avery, Marissa, Anya, Ariston, Kyrin, Nova, Brooklynn, Sophie, Rylee,  Juliana, Ariella and Parker and 2 great-great-grandchildren Emelia and Theodore.

Cremation has taken place, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
