Irene B. Ziolkowski, 99, passed away at 7:58am Sunday, July 4, 2021 in Hamilton Grove Retirement Community.
Irene was born on May 10, 1922 in South Bend to Joseph and Mary (Horvath) Bokon. On May 25, 1946 in South Bend she married Alexander “Al” Ziolkowski. He died on February 22, 2002. Irene was also preceded in death by a son A. Paul Ziolkowski, three sisters Mary Dominiak, Velma Sikorski, and Lillian Grzezinski and three brothers Rudolph Bokon, William Bokon, and Joseph Bokon.
Surviving are two daughters Linda (Donald) Botka and Deborah (Paul Abbott) Zell, a son Dennis (Laura) Zell, four grandchildren Michael (Erica) Botka, Kimberly (Greg) Kneubuhler, Justin (Kari) Zell, and Aaron (Erica) Zell, and six great-grandchildren Taylor, Brooke, and Caleb, Bryce, Bridgette, and Baily, and one special cousin who helped us immensely, Mary Sue Violette.
Irene worked for the SBCSC at Warren School, was a long time parishioner of the former St. Stephen’s Church and its St. Theresa Society.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Wednesday, July 14, 2021 in St. Casimir Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may gather from 4-8 Tuesday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue where a rosary will be recited at 6:00pm.
