Irma E. Nyers, 88, passed away at 11:00am Friday, October 15, 2021 in Memorial Hospital.
Irma was born on November 27, 1932 in Chicago, IL to George and Margaret (Dudash) Antal. She was employed by the Signature Group, Standard Liquors and was head cook at St. Mary of the Assumption School. Irma was a former member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church and sang in the choir there, she now is a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church, VFW #1167 Ladies Auxiliary, the William Penn Association and was on the Board of Directors of Southhold Restorations.
On October 10, 1959 in Gary, IN she married Alex G. Nyers who survives along with three daughters Mary Nyers, Rose (Jim) Burns and Margaret Wolf, two sons Richard (Ken) Nyers and George (Marianne) Nyers, 7 grandchildren Jennifer Corsiatto, Gregory Nyikos, Alicia Johnston, Constance Sanchez, James Burns, Noah Nyers, and Michael Nyers, 8 great-grandchildren Anthony, Catalia, Dylan, Santiago, Lucia (on the way), Alianna, Nathan, and Gianni, a sister Margaret Bandura and brother George (Suzanne) Antal. Irma was preceded in death by a son Matthew Nyers
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Thursday, October 21, 2021 in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Viewing will take place from 4-8 Wednesday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue where a rosary will be recited at 5:00pm.
