Jack V. Vukovits, 95, passed away at 12:20am Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Raclin House, Center for Hospice.
Jack was born on September 7, 1929 in South Bend to Victor and Rose (Frederick) Vukovits. On November 22, 1956 he married the love of his life, Mary Lou Andert. She died on July 12, 2024. Also preceding him in death are a sister, Rosemary Budd and a brother John (Helen) Vukovits.
Surviving are four children Dan (Robin) Vukovits, Mary (Tim) Pfeiffer, Kathy (David) Smith, and Victor (Lisa) Vukovits, 10 grandchildren Katie (Garrett) Stutsman, Hilary Vukovits, Garrett Smith, Erika Pfeiffer, Blake Vukovits, Mariah Pfeiffer, Taylor Vukovits, Loren Vukovits, Bailey Vukovits and Jack Vukovits.
Jack was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who led with kindness and compassion. He had a joyful, fun-loving personality. He loved being outside and enjoyed the peace it brought him. His family and grandchildren were his treasures. He was a man of integrity and character, a proud Marine to the end. He will be greatly missed.
Jack retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he worked as a letter carrier. He was a United States Marine veteran who served in the Korean War, a member of the VFW, the American Legion and Knights of Columbus.
Cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday, April 18, 2025 from 10-11:30am in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue. Burial with military services will follow in Highland Cemetery.
