Janis Kay Slisz, 78, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024 peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family.
Janis was born on June 6, 1945 in South Bend to Pinkney and Norma (Cook) Carter.
On February 9, 1974 she married Caspar J. Slisz Sr. He died on February 22, 2013. Janis was also preceded in death by a daughter Pamela Yandl, a sister Mary Pawlak and two brothers William Carter and Bruce Carter, and a niece Karmin Carter.
Surviving are her daughters Misty (Clyde) Lewis, Robyn Fawley, Teresa Woodrum, Carmen (Michael) Hosier and Stephanie (Jason) Berkey, sons Casey (Chanin) Slisz II and Casey (Dawn) Elish, 16 grandchildren Levi, KayLee, Jason, Joseph, Danielle, Christopher, Casper, Heather, Preston, Kyle, Corey, Josh, Justin, Maranda, Maddie, and Brady, 13 great-grandchildren, and brothers Kevin Carter and Dennis Carter, 11 nieces and nephews, 3 very special friends Stephan Lewis, Susan Antonelli, and Heidi Shanafelt.
Janis retired from Thermoplastics and enjoyed word search puzzles, sunbathing, but most of all, loved spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be celebrated at 3:00pm Saturday, January 27, 2024, in Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue. Cremation will follow. Family and friends may visit from 1:00pm until service Saturday in the funeral home.
