Janos “John” P. Burus, 83, passed away at 12:50pm Tuesday, December 7, 2021 in Memorial Hospital.
Janos was born on July 28, 1938 in Csorna, Hungary to Janos and Marie (Csillag) Burus.
He was employed for 24 years by Bendix / Honeywell as a Senior Lab Tech. John was a United States Army veteran for four years before he was a naturalized U.S. citizen, a member of the American Legion Post 357, Notre Dame football usher for 20 years and an officer for William Penn Association Branch 132. He was very proud to resurrect William Penn Branch 132 after a decade of non-existence. On Sunday December 5, 2021 we celebrated the 12th annual William Penn Christmas Party at Mishawaka Barnaby’s and he was so happy and proud.
Dad was very kind and generous to everyone. He had a smile that would light up a room, a joke that would make everyone laugh and a story that would pull in anyone to listen. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. The world lost a great man.
Surviving are three sons John E. Burus, Ernest (Alice) Burus, Thomas (Dana) Burus, 7 grandchildren Matthew, Danielle, Lindsey, Carson, Bryce, Kallen, and Erin, and two brothers Andras (Aniko) Burus and Istvan Burus. John was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Jozsef (Terus) Burus and Ferenc Burus.
Private funeral services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Zahoran Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
