John Paksi, 94, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 in Bell Tower Health & Rehabilition Center.
John was born on February 23, 1929 in South Bend to Joseph and Bertha (Brahlich) Paksi. On November 28, 1953 he married the former Gayle L. Hartstein. She died on September 13, 2006. John was also preceded in death by five brothers Louis Paksi, Steve Hornyak, Anton Hornyak, Frank Hornyak, and Julius Hornyak and five sisters Frances Hojnacki, Freda Laiber, Alma Katona, Esther Katona, and Margaret Compton.
Surviving are a daughter Lisa (Joe) Bella of Granger, two sons Cary Paksi and Gregory Paksi both of South Bend, a grandson Joseph Michael (Katherine) Bella, and a sister Julie Paksi-Zapalski of Vandalia.
John served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Ball Band and Sears and played softball, bowled and golfed.
Private services will be held.
