Joseph Hutter Obituary

Joseph B. Hutter, also known as Indian Joe, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023 in Memorial Hospital.

Joe was born on March 19, 1945 in South Bend to Joseph and Dorothy (Hawkins) Hutter.  He was a United States Army veteran, was dedicated to the Cherokee tribe and enjoyed Native American crafts, gardening, fishing, but most of all, his family.

Surviving are two daughters Christy Ann (Philip) Vandenbossche and Dale Lee (Shane) Stewart, a son Joseph Noel (Debbie) Hutter, his former wife Evelyn Elaine Messer, 3 grandchildren Hope Rose King, Lindsay Hutter and Braxton Stewart, a great-granddaughter Ivy Rose King, two brothers John A. Hutter and James F. Hutter, a nephew Barry Hutter, a niece Jessica Hutter, and special friends John Wiliams and Andy Torres.

Cremation will take place.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to defray funeral expenses.
