Kathleen Hootman Obituary

Kathleen A. Hootman, 74, passed away at 11:45am Tuesday, May 7, 2024 in her residence, surrounded by her family.

Kathy was born on September 3, 1949 in South Bend to Stephen and Mary (Nagy) Bernath.  They preceded her in death along with a brother Stephen G. Bernath..

Surviving are two sons Tom (Amy) Hootman and John (Kristi) Vandygriff, three grandchildren Kati, David, and Jeffrey, a sister Mary Ann (Don) Dettor, and a brother John Bernath.

Kathy was a breast cancer survivor who loved dancing, scrapbooking, entertaining, especially for Christmas.  She became the family matriarch after her mother passed away in 2008 and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 10am to 12:00pm in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue.  Funeral services will begin at 12:00pm with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.  To leave an online condolence, visit our website http://www.zahoran.com or our Facebook page Zahoran Funeral Home.
