Loretta Ann “Polli” Weber, 85, of South Bend, IN passed away on October 19th, 2023 after a long battle with lung cancer.
Polli was born on June 16th, 1938 to Karl and Margaret (Mehen) Weigand in South Bend, IN. After graduating from St. Joseph High School in 1956, she went on to study at Marquette University and later taught at St. John the Baptist grade school. Polli stopped teaching to raise a family and later worked at the South Bend Post Office for 20 years.
In 1964 Polli met David Francis Weber and they wed on November 28th, 1964 going on to have three children. Polli was preceded in death by her husband David, her parents, her sister Nellie Wildeman and her brother Peter Weigand. Polli is survived by her brother Karl (Suzanne) Weigand and sister Dorothy Kennedy, children Michael (Stephanie) Weber, Mary (Scott) Madine and Matthew (Shelly) Weber, nieces, nephews and her 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Polli loved spending time with family and friends and her little dog Lucy. She was caring and helped her friends in need as she was able. She was an avid Notre Dame football fan, loved reading, listening to music and doing crossword puzzles.
There will be a viewing at Zahoran Funeral Home (1826 Kemble Ave, South Bend) on Tuesday October 24th from 9:30am – 10:30am followed by a Mass at St. Matthew Cathedral (1701 Miami St, South Bend) at 11:00am. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to Zahoran Funeral Home. Donations in Polli’s name can be made to the American Cancer Society.
