Marcelina "Marcy" S. Perez Hernandez

Marcelina “Marcy” S. Perez Hernandez passed away on Thursday July 4, 2024 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Marcy was born on March 17, 1957 in Niles, Michigan to Manuel and Ofelia Perez. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jose Armando Hernandez.

She is survived by daughter Sonia (Cande) Garcia, and three sons, Manuel “Meme” Garcia, Calistro “Pelon” Garcia, Jose “Ricky” Garcia, and foster daughter Susy Esquiliano, nine sisters, Maria “Sera” Green, Emma Aguirre, Anita “Annie” (Kenny) Burns, Juanita “Janie” Navarro, Aurelia “Skizzy” Perez, Esther (Wendy) Perez, Clara (Charlie) Brown, Ofelia “Fela” (Joe) Kopinski, and Martha (Bob) Perez-Young, six brothers, David (Evelyn) Perez, Jose “Joey” (Diane) Perez, Manuel “Jr” (Toni) Perez, Juan “Johnny” Perez, Francisco “Frank” Perez, and Miguel “Mike” (Betty) Perez. Other survivors include her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, Perez cousins, and the Garcia family.

Marcy was a loving and kind woman that loved spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed and looked forward to laughing, eating all kind of food, playing games, going to the casino, reminiscing, and sharing memories of the last 25+ years at the yearly Perez Sisters Weekend every July with her nine sisters. Marcy opened her heart and would reach out to anyone’s time of need, offering her love and support to help when she could. She enjoyed and found comfort in the music made by her windchimes and by watching her beautiful hummingbirds from the window and porch. Marcy spent time shopping at thrift and discount stores always looking for hidden treasurers for herself and family. She was a very dedicated and hard worker. Marcy was employed for over 20 years at Value City Furniture in Mishawaka, Indiana.

A Celebration of Life for Marcy will be Sunday October 20, 2024 at the Kroc Center (Chapel) (Salvation Army) at 900 Western Avenue in South Bend, Indiana 46601. Entrance to the Chapel is door 3.

The gathering of siblings will be from 1:30pm-2pm, gathering of immediate family will be from 2pm-2:30pm, and public gathering will be from 2:30pm-5:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Marcy Perez Memorial Fund/Aurelia Perez at Everwise Credit Union.
