Maria Darmos Obituary

Maria Darmos, 82, passed away at 3:30pm Monday, July 6, 2020 in Hamilton Grove Retirement Community.Maria was born on October 8, 1937 in Sopron, Hungary. She left Hungary in 1956 during the revolution and relocated in Austria. Maria then moved to South Bend in 1957. She retired from St. Marys College and loved gardening and cooking. In 1962 she married Dezso Darmos. He died on August 31, 1976. Maria was also preceded in death by her son Dezso "Dezsi" Darmos and her long-time companion Russell NickersonSurviving are two daughters Laura (John) Lipp and Delores DeMeester, a son Rob Kolozsvary, 8 grandchildren Hilary, Cody, Lucas, Jessica, Alex, Ryan, Zach, and Austin, and her brother Jeno Horvath. Funeral services will be celebrated at 7:00pm. Viewing will take place from 5-7 Friday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue. Cremation will follow, with burial of her cremated remains in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Social distancing guidelines will be enforced.
