Maria Ramirez

Maria Belen Ramirez, “Doña Licha,” age 90, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024, surrounded by her daughters in her home in South Bend, IN. Doña Licha was born in San Francisco del Rincón, GTO, México, to José Guadalupe Ramirez and María Luisa Cruz Valdez. She was the second oldest of four siblings. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, St. Adalberts Catholic Church, and later Our Lady of Hungary.

She settled in South Bend, IN, in the winter of 1978 after working many years cleaning houses and as a farm worker in Texas and many fields across different states throughout the United States since the early 1950s.

She is survived by her daughters, Eva Reyes, Esperanza Reyes, and Alma Diaz; six grandchildren, Cristina, Jose de Jesus, Jorge, Julio, Salvador, and Alejandra; nine great-grandchildren; all living in South Bend; and many nieces and nephews in the USA and Mexico. She was preceded in death by her son, Anselmo Antonio Alonso (died 1999).

Visitation will be on Friday, August 2nd, from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Zahoran Funeral Home, and Catholic mass will be on Saturday, August 3rd, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Hungary.  

Maria Belén Ramírez, "Doña Licha", de 90 años, falleció el jueves 25 de julio de 2024, rodeada de sus hijas en su hogar en South Bend, IN. Doña Licha nació en San Francisco del Rincón, GTO, México, hija de José Guadalupe Ramírez y María Luisa Cruz Valdez. Fue la segunda mayor de cuatro hermanos. Fue una devota católica y miembra de la Iglesia Católica San Esteban, la Iglesia Católica de San Adalberto, y Nuestra Señora de Hungría.

Se estableció en South Bend, IN, en el invierno de 1978 después de trabajar muchos años limpiando casas y como trabajadora agrícola en Texas y en muchos campos en diferentes estados de los Estados Unidos desde principios de la década de 1950.

Le sobreviven sus hijas, Eva Reyes, Esperanza Reyes y Alma Díaz; seis nietos, Cristina, José de Jesús, Jorge, Julio, Salvador y Alejandra; nueve bisnietos, todos viven en South Bend; y muchos sobrinos y sobrinas en los EE.UU. y México. Fue precedida en muerte por su hijo, Anselmo Antonio Alonso (fallecido en 1999).

La visita será el viernes 2 de agosto, de 3:00 a 7:00 p.m. en Zahoran Funeral Home, y la misa católica será el sábado 3 de agosto, a las 11:00 a.m. en Nuestra Señora de Hungría.
