Marie (Sager) Buckhanan

South Bend– Marie Kathleen Buckhanan, 65, passed away at 9:51am Tuesday, May 11, 2021 in Memorial Hospital.

Marie was born on March 28, 1956 in Lansing, MI to Wendell and Laura (DeLeeuw) Sager.  She attended grade school and high school in Leslie, MI.

Marie served in the U.S. Army (Military Intelligence) from 1974 to 1977 as a Communications Intercept Operator in South Korea with the rank of SP4 . After her service in the military, Marie attended Michigan State University and graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Agricultural Engineering. Recently, Marie was a partner and property manager for Buckhanan Properties LLC, and served as a board member of NCI-REIA. 

Marie loved gardening, making floral arrangements, and especially loved creating items using her skill at crocheting, knitting, and sewing.

On October 2, 1976 she married Jerry Buckhanan who survives along with 2 sons Wayne (Nicole) Buckhanan and Joseph (Louisiana) Buckhanan, 4 grandchildren, 2 sisters Elaine (Michael) Mancino and Elizabeth Perry and a brother Mark (Heather) Sager.
