Michele was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Beverly Bernth and granddaughter Mayzie Weiss.

She was a graduate of Indiana University and earned her Masters Degree from the University of Chicago.

Miki was one of a kind.  Smart, funny, articulate and beautiful were only a few of her best qualities.  She had a deep love for her family, especially her soulmate Keith, and for all the creatures that roam the earth.  In the entirety of her adult life she was never without the companionship of her beloved dogs and cats.  Miki was able to teach you something new in almost every conversation because she had so much knowledge tucked away in that marvelous brain of hers.  She was happy to talk about anything with you, from religion to politics to Harry Potter and Star Trek.

She was always willing to chat on the phone and thoroughly loved hearing about the lives of her friends and family.  It is hard not to recognize the strength and willpower to live that Miki showed.  She was faced with endless health challenges and was determined to fight her way through so many different times.  She was one who taught us to look at the human spirit and see what it is capable of.

We will miss her smile, her laugh, her friendship and the love she shared.

Rest in peace Miki.

We love you.

A tribute from Keith-

In my journey of 68 years I have been wrong about so many things. But one thing that I have never been wrong about is how amazing and strong the human spirit is. We all have experienced the wonders of life in one way or another. Many challenges along the way. many when we are young have shaped our views to this day. But death is one of those mysteries that we can't quite understand. As I watch my beautiful wife take the final journey I find my belief of an after life to be reasonable. Not because of any book or anything that I was taught growing up, I find myself wanting to be selfish. I was lucky to find someone who loved me with all my faults and all my screwed up opinions. Miki was my saint, she never gave up on me even when I was ready to give up on myself. I will finish this journey of life without her but I will never forget the love and patience she had for me. She was one of a kind, smart, funny articulate beautiful, and most of all kind to everyone. I will not believe her spirit will just die and fade away. I have faith of an after life because she taught me kindness and love is the most important thing in this world. I believe we will once again be together somehow, some way. I have no proof to give, only her love for me and my love for her which I believe can never die. This is not about religion to me this is about love, a love so strong it will endure all obstacles until we are together again. She was my one in a billion. Life has a way of surprising us. If you have someone in your life then hold on tight live every minute like it's your last, because it just might be true. Love to all who read this, it has been very helpful in my grieving to write down and share my simple thoughts. Be kind to one another, and be kind to animals because we are the stuarts of our planet. Peace and love to all thank you for reading.
