Richard R. Gorney

Richard R. Gorney, 93, passed away at 12:20pm Sunday, November 22, 2020 in his residence, surrounded by his family.Richard was born on October 27, 1927 in South Bend to Zygmunt and Marie (Nowicki) Gorney. He was a World War II, United States Navy veteran who retired from RACO in 1992 after 30 years of employment. Richard was a member of the American Legion 357, Anchor Conservation Club (Original Member), ZB Falcons, St. Casimir Seniors Club and St. John the Baptist Seniors Club. On June 17, 1961 he married Judith Szoke. She survives along with two daughters Annie (David) Godollei and Julie Ann Klosinski, a son Rick (Beth) Gorney, 3 grandchildren Abigail Godollei, Emily Godollei, and Chloe Klosinski, and a nephew Dale Makowski. Richard was preceded in death by two sisters Dorothy Cichowicz and Rita Makowski.The family would like to extend thanks to the staff of Hospice for the care they provided to Richard.Visitation will take place on Friday, November 27, 2020 in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue from 10:30am to 12:30pm. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be enforced. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00pm in St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
