Richard D. Miko, 64, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
Rick was born on May 1, 1960 in South Bend to Joseph and Geneva (Walker) Miko Jr.
He was employed by Forest River for 25 years. He enjoyed participating in football and wrestling during his youth. And later in life - fishing and watching football, especially Notre Dame and the Detroit Lions. Rick, like his dad, loved listening to music and was a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings movies. He was also known for his heartfelt birthday cards that he would pen to his family members - he had a way of making each individual feel special, loved, and appreciated.
Surviving are three sisters Lori (Pat) Ewing, Sandy (Dave) Campbell, and Cindy (Joshua) Polando and a brother Don (Cindy) Miko.Rick enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews: Sara Ewing Smith (Jack), Amy Ewing, Emily Ewing Rosales (Art), Dan (Michelle) Campbell, Ian Polando (Sarah), Emma Polanda, Ben Polando, and his great niece, Makenna Smith, and great nephews: Nate Ewing, Angelo Rosales, Keaton and Callen Smith, and Cohen and Conor Campbell.
Viewing will take place on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 6-8pm in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Thursday in Holy Family Church. Burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors, the Alzheimer / Dementia Association, the ASPCA organization, or Robert L. Miller Sr. Veteran's Center, 747 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46601.
