Richard E. “Dick” Wallace, 89, a man of deep faith, was promoted to Heaven when he was called home by his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 25, 2024.
Born in Cassopolis, MI, the son of George and Ronella (Granger) Wallace (both deceased). He lived and worked in South Bend / Mishawaka until his retirement after 28 years of service at Wheelabrator Corp. On March 13, 1953 he married the love of his life, Harriet Waggoner (deceased). They had two sons Rich (Jane) and Bill (deceased), three grandchildren, Ethan (Tara), Andrea (Darcy), Shaun (Heather) and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a daughter-in-law Cindi Bender and sister-in-law Lanita Wallace.
After his retirement he moved to Winter Haven, FL. He spent 23 living his faith volunteering at The Mission. He helped the less fortunate with his money, time, and faith.
He returned to South Bend to spend the last years of his life near his family, living at Southfield Village. We would like to thank the wonderful Southfield nursing and administrative staff for their genuine kindness, love, and support.
Also preceding him in death were siblings Kate, Arthola, Shirley, Betty, George, Pat, Bob, and Jerry.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place from 11am to 1pm Saturday, June 1, 2024 in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Ministries, South Bend, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Shriner’s Hospital for Children or Riley Hospital for Children.
