Robert T. Mayfield

Robert T. Mayfield, 90, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024 in Wellbrooke of South Bend.

Robert was born on July 31, 1933 in South Bend to Calvis and Emma (Vanhulle) Mayfield.  On July 27, 1957 he married the former Josephine Mejer who survives along with a daughter Pamela McCartney, five grandchildren Cassandra (Scott) Hitchcock, Jeremy (Ashley) McCartney, Leah Butler, Robert (Lena) Mayfield III, and Meredith Mayfield, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and two brothers Jerry Mayfield and Rodney Mayfield. 

He was preceded in death by two sons Robert Mayfield Jr. and Chris D. Mayfield, a son-in-law Ron McCartney and a brother Calvis Mayfield Jr.

Bob was employed by Layne Northern for 17 years and then was the owner of R.T. Mayfield Well Drilling.  He loved to tinker with gadgets and invent things.  He also loved to fish and was a member of the Lions Club and East United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be celebrated at 1:00pm Monday, January 29, 2024, in Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue.  Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.   Family and friends may visit from 11:00am until service Monday in the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Club International or the National Kidney Foundation.  To leave an online condolence, visit our website http://www.zahoran.com or our Facebook page Zahoran Funeral Home.
