Sandra Kay Fatum Cazallis, 57, of Osceola, Indiana passed away unexpectedly
Saturday, September 3, 2023. She was born November 19, 1965 to Dennis and
Marlene (Swanson) Fatum in Reed City, Michigan. Upon graduating from Reed
City High School in 1983, she attended Mercy School of Practical Nursing in
Cadillac, Michigan to obtain her LPN degree in Nursing.
Alongside working, she then attended West Shore Community College, and in
1986 she obtained her Associate’s Degree and became a Registered Nurse. In
1988 Sandy graduated from Ferris State University with her Bachelor’s Degree in
Nursing. Throughout her constant drive to be successful in the field of nursing,
Sandy worked full-time over the years at both Mecosta County General Hospital
in Big Rapids and Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
In 1993, Sandy successfully completed the requirements for her Master’s Degree
in Nursing/Gerontology from Grand Valley State University. Not long after
graduating, she became a full-time Nursing faculty member at Southwestern
Michigan College in Dowagiac, Michigan. She spent almost 15 years in that
position.
In 2007, Sandy decided she needed a change and became a Director of Nursing at
Madison Center & Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. For the remainder of her
career in Nursing, Sandy worked at several places, including Extendicare, Inc.;
Golden Living Center LaPorte; Riverside Village (American Senior Communities);
concluding with many years at Oaklawn Psychiatric Center at various locations.
On May 25, 1997, Sandy married Phillip Cazallis in Reed City, Michigan, and they
made their home and raised their children in Indiana.
Besides her husband, Sandy is survived by her two children, Aislinn and Cameron
Cazallis of Osceola, Indiana; her two brothers, Russ (Gail) Fatum of Bedford,
Texas, and Mark (Xandria) Fatum of Paris, Michigan, as well as several nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Per Sandy’s wishes, she has been cremated, and a private graveside service will be
held with family at a later time.
